We have been notified about the First Light Festival in June and are passing this information on to our customers.
The festival team is working closely with East Suffolk Council, Suffolk County Council, Lowestoft Town Council, Arts Council England and other stakeholders, to create and deliver an event that will contribute significantly to the regeneration of Lowestoft and its seafront. The aim of the festival is that it will be a place making event both regionally and nationally – developing joy, pride and a sense of place through culture and the arts
First Light is a brand new, exciting and FREE multi-arts festival for Lowestoft celebrating its beautiful beach and seafront and unique position as the most easterly point of the UK, where the sun rises first. A central part of the cultural regeneration ambitions of the town it is aimed at increasing cultural participation, enriching the local arts ecology and generating new creative skills opportunities.
The location will be Lowestoft’s glorious sandy South Beach, with its backdrop of colourful, traditional beach huts and Victorian gardens. Events will begin at noon on Saturday 22 June and will run continuously through changing tides, light and darkness until noon on Sunday 23 June.
We are looking for local residents to be involved as volunteers, artists and makers.
The Festival will set up on the beach from Tuesday 18 – Friday 21 June 2019 with emergency access and some limited vehicle access required on Jubilee parade. This will be managed by our site and security team and disruption to beach hut residents will be kept to a minimum where possible. We truly appreciate your cooperation during this time.
